CLYR Type is built to keep your writing entirely private. The short version: the app collects nothing about you, and your words never leave your Mac.

In one line: CLYR Type has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads, and it sends none of your data anywhere. Everything you write stays on your device.

No data collection

CLYR Type does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There are no user accounts, no usage analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs bundled in the app.

Your documents stay on your Mac

Every file you open, edit, or create stays on your device and in the locations you choose — for example a local folder, an external drive, or iCloud Drive managed by macOS. CLYR Type only accesses files you explicitly open or save, and it never uploads or transmits your file contents anywhere.

Settings are stored locally

Your preferences — such as theme, font, typography, and display options — are saved locally on your Mac by macOS. They never leave your device.

Network use

CLYR Type itself makes no network connections and transmits none of your data — it runs inside the macOS App Sandbox without network access. A connection happens only when you choose to open a link the app provides, such as this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Service from the app's settings: those pages open in your default web browser, and loading them is an ordinary web request made by the browser, not by CLYR Type. No information about you or your documents is ever sent.

Website analytics

This website (type.clyr.app), including this page, uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic. It is cookieless and privacy-first: it stores no state on your device, does not fingerprint visitors, and collects no personally identifiable information. This applies only to the website — not to the CLYR Type app.

System features

Features provided by macOS that you choose to use — such as spell checking, autocorrect, or Writing Tools — are handled by Apple and are governed by Apple's privacy policy, not by CLYR Type.

Purchases

CLYR Type is free to download. If it offers in-app purchases, they are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; we never receive your payment details.

Children's privacy

CLYR Type does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
